Facility Details: No name VTT

Organization / Localization: VTT
Country: Finland
Facility Description: Diameter of the cylindrical water pool is 21.4 cm and pool depth 10 - 70 cm from the bottom of discharge line to pool surface.
Test Identification: VTT pool scrubbing tests E-1, A-1, B-1, C-1 and D-1
SA-Related Topics / Phenomena: Investigate the retention of fission products by pool scrubbing focusing on the effect of pool depth and flow rate into the pool. Effect of pure water pool vs. caustic water pool. CsI is used as a surrogate to soluble aerosol, metallic Te as insoluble aerosol (B-1 tests) and I2 as gas.
Measured Parameters: T, p, Particle size distribution, DF
Modelling: Atmospheric pressure, aerosol inlet in the pool at +0.98 to+ 6.87 kPa gauge. Pool temperature was 23 °C. Aerosol feed-pipes were heated to prevent condensation. Caustic pool solution had 5 g of NaOH per kg-water
Simulation Code: ASTEC
Experimental Research Program: SAFIR2022 MANTRA project
Link to PIRT: WP-1.5 ST-20 Experiments provide insights on effects of inlet aerosol carrier gas mass flow rate and pool depth.
