Facility Details: SCRUPOS

Organization / Localization: RSE, Milano
Country: Italy
Facility Description: Pool scrubbing and spray scrubbing test facility
Test Identification: SCRUPOS
SA-Related Topics / Phenomena: SCRUPOS experiments investigate the effect of high pressure spray in removing airborne aerosols from the scrubber type filtered venting system. The aerosols are fed into a test scrubbing chamber from the bottom of the chamber and high pressure water spray is operated from the top, about 1.2 m above the bottom of the test chamber. The pressure range of the sprays is 50 - 130 bar. The simulant aerosols were SiO2 with the 1 μm and 0.5 μm. The other varied test parameters were flow rate and targeted particle concentration. The tests were performed at RSE in Milano.
Measured Parameters: Pool scrubbing (gas bubbles rising through water, capturing particles) Spray scrubbing (high-pressure water sprays capturing aerosols) Combined effects, under different liquid phases, aerosol sizes, flow rates, depths, nozzle submergence, etc.
Modelling: Spray pressure 150, 80, 100 and 130 bar, spray flow rate 0.83 l/min to 1.33 l/min. Spray droplet size 35 - 54 µm, particle actual concentration 2.1 - 99 mg/m3.
