Phenomenology Name
SCRUPOS experiments investigate the effect of high pressure spray in removing airborne aerosols from the scrubber type filtered venting system. The aerosols are fed into a test scrubbing chamber from the bottom of the chamber and high pressure water spray is operated from the top, about 1.2 m above the bottom of the test chamber. The pressure range of the sprays is 50 - 130 bar. The simulant aerosols were SiO2 with the 1 μm and 0.5 μm. The other varied test parameters were flow rate and targeted particle concentration. The tests were performed at RSE in Milano.
Series of tests dedicated to study the different sources of formation of organic iodides (paints, COV, steel surfaces, polymer insulation …)
Series of tests dedicated to study the metallic iodide aerosols stability under irradiation in the containment
Several series of essentially separate effects tests are underway in the PITEAS facility to investigate condensation onto walls (diffusiophoresis) and onto hygroscopic aerosols (CsI)
Slow flooding
Special effect studies on gas driven mixing of density stratified non-freezing liquids.
